Hellooooo? Is this thing switched on?

Hey there blog world! It’s the Tramp here, clocking in for duty …at long last! I have been one very lazy girl, but all Val’s pestering has finally paid off it seems :p

As you might have guessed from the name of the blog and Val’s previous posts, i’m the casual, slightly messy, mis-matched one out of us two. I’m actually quite jealous of Ms Glushenko’s poised perfection, but i just can’t pull it off dammit!

Anyway, i didn’t have a clue what to talk about as my first post, so i decided to just show you guys a couple of outfits i’ve been skipping about in lately (and my new favourite skins! wheee!).

First up is my take on being girly… with a bit of a ‘rough and ready’ twist.

I teamed this feminine, floral skirt and delicate vest top with this ace jacket from Ce Cubic Effect which gives the outfit a completely different edge. I love love lovvvvvve this jacket. The texturing and sculpty work make it look perfectly aged, like i just can’t take it off, which isn’t far from the truth. I’ve shoved my tootsies in to these cowboy boots from J’s. Once again, they have great texturing for that ‘just been roaming about it the wheat fields’ kinda vibe. Yeeha! And i KNOW the shade isn’t an exact match for the jacket, but not matching is my thang, remember?;)

The second outfit i want to post here shows the other side of me. I’m totally addicted to all things kitschy and cutesy.

So, a pretty straight-forward outfit, with this adorable striped tunic from Karamia. It’s worth metioning you get loads of choice with this dress – sculpty skirt, flexi skirt, and 2 sleeve options. Always good to have options, innit. The hair is new(ish) from HCT and boasts a scripted colour-change bow and band. I love the style of this, and the straight fringe actually sits ok on my shape for once! Hurray!

Now. SKINS! YAY! I, like about 90% of the female SL population am totally addicted to buying new skins. An expensive habbit usually… but not always :D

The skin i am wearing in the above piccie is from a new (to me anyway) store called Bazy, and i’m in love with it! Seriously, haven’t taken it off for 2 weeks, and that’s saying something. Aaaaaand, the skins are only 250L to boot. Double yay! I’m not gonna bother analyzing them at all, because i think i’d be a bit crap at that, so here’s a picture instead.

L-R, Basic, Red, 80′s, plum. All in the Med/light tone.

(how cute is that little beauty spot?! click click on the pic for a bigger version)

Anyhoo, that’s me for now. Hope you’ve made some sense of my ramblings.

Hearts n stuff,

Rach

Thank you to everyone who entered, I hope to see you all at Glam World tomorrow, and hopefully back here at the blog :D

Competition Time: Springtime at MMS & Cachet

When Minnu Palen IM’d me asking if she could send some of the Gen4 skins and come Cachet items over, naturally I became rather giddy and replied with girlish excitement. After waiting a couple of days (bless them, Minnu and Thora are uber busy sorting out things for this release over at Glam World), my ridiculously over the top excitement was rewarded with what I can only describe as beautiful creations. I’m known to hate Spring fashion – I love black, vampiness, and sombre colours, yet the neutral-sunny colour scheme I discovered particularly in Thora’s items is nothing short of gorgeous. Here’s a couple of looks I threw together from the half-a-dozen outfits I was sent:

The dress on the left I think many of us have had in our sights after seeing it in the preview, posted on the MMS site. The cage painted into the top texture moves into a prim cage near seamlessl, with a flowing sheer prim skirt. I love it, and with the bag, its both chic and fun. On the right i went for a more mature look, combining the muted tones of the baggy pants and top with an oversized red bag and fabulously large hat (which i made even bigger to accomodate my big head + hair which you can’t see). I fell in love with the baggy pants of the Wednesday outfit from Cachet, and these are no different – love love LOVE them. The brown sunglasses add both a stylish touch and a practical tool against the near-apocalyptic windlight sun. Hair by Armidi, shoes by Maitreya.

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for – the competition! Minnu and I brainstormed on what we could do to both promote the blog and the new spring line at MMS, and we decided that I should make an outift which you (yes YOU, reader) have the chance to win for free, courtesy of Minnu Palen and Thora Charron. Quiz question and more details after the pic:

As I tried on the outfits Thora sent my way, I literally stopped and gaped in awe at the perfection that is this dress. This isn’t a silhouette nor a colour scheme i’d usually go for, but the shape and texture of it is so perfect, i daresay i’m in love (I hope the baggy pants don’t get too jealous). Helpfully, I forgot to take a picture of the lower front of the dress, which has a large yet subtle emblem on it, echoing the Venitian pattern of the fabric, however you can see that the rest of the dress is done with great attention accuracy and detail in the sculpted bodice. Also shown here is a hairstyle by Minnu – i’ve had the fortune of wearing hair by her before, but this was even better than I had expected. In the full body shot i’ve fiddled a little with the gravity settings of the flexi parts to make it appear moving, but even without adjustments it flows nicely along with your avatar. Of course, the skins I haven’t mentioned yet – Gen4 is surprisingly soft, in contast with the previous sets of skins. It took a little modification or two to my shape to get me to look my best in it, but I really do like the subtle qualities to the face and upper body in particular. I would definitely recommend you give these skins a try; I have, and I think they’re super.

TO WIN THIS OUTFIT, ANSWER THE SIMPLE QUESTION BELOW:

I have had the good fortune to work with Minnu and the other staff at a certain SL magazine she produces – what is the name of this magazine?
A – Metro Virtual Fashion
B – Second Style Magazine
C – GLAM Magazine
D – Aspire! Magazine

Please comment this post with your answer to apply – entries that have not included their full name will NOT be considered. It will say that your comments will be moderated before they are shown; this is because even though this is a very easy question, i have to keep the answers hidden, of course! The names will then be put into a hat or similar jumbling device and I shall pluck a name from it. This lucky AV will receive the WHOLE look, minus shoes – that’s skin, hair, sunglasses and dress!

COMPETITION CLOSES MIDNIGHT SLT ON THURSDAY – the winner will get their outfit on Friday before the Glam World sim is reopened!

Something for Everyone – Casa del Shai

Unless you’ve been living in a virtual cave for the last year or two, you’ll be very much familiar with Casa del Shai by Shai Delacroix. And it’s no secret that she is awesome, and has teh ultimate skillz. Typos intended.

While you can’t go wrong at the Casa – Shai’s casual-, formal-, under- and menswear are all fantastic – my personal favourites are her lingerie sets and her gowns. What can I say, i’m a glamour whore. Pictured below are my top outfits, although I don’t think there’s a single thing in the store I don’t like.

Pictured above is Shai’s most recent release in her Boudoir range, the Dulce Body Con Suit – she told me this was the first thing she ever made for the Boudoir, and I would never have guessed, the quality is just as high as anything she has made lately. As she has demonstrated in her ad, this piece is both about sex and about edge. I’ve tried to demonstrate this somewhat in my picture, as it seemed this outfit couldn’t go without a bit of attitude. Paired with the Short Crop style from ETD (no idea what its called now), Sid skin by MMS and Verve Pumps by Maitreya.

At what you could call the opposite end of the spectrum we have the Caroline Serpentine Dress in Merlot, released at New Year. And trust me, my New Year’s resolution was to wear this whenever possible. People that know me will tell you that I love eveningwear, and will buy a ball gown no matter how impractical or expensive it is, and of the heap I have in my inventory, this is by far my favourite. It’s class all over – if you don’t have it, you need it. Paired with the Turnsol style from Calla, the Angelina (i think i made that up) skin from Redgrave, and the Verve Pumps again, but you can’t see them.

Back to the Boudoir again with The Duchess – I love it. While I set out to write this post without gushing like an annoying fangirl, I’m sure by the end i’ll be declaring my undying love for Shai. The Duchess is the sexiest lingerie ensemble i’ve seen in SL, in that it has that classy element which I personally find very attractive (while she didn’t wear anything like it in the film, it sometimes reminds me of Mrs Robinson from The Graduate, especially with the Envy style from Armidi – see Eyva Matova’s pic here). I personally prefer it without the flexi bottom and the fur bit, but both versions are equally beautiful and fabulous. Hair is the Glamorous II style from Armidi, skin is Betty Barracuda’s Another Fundraiser mod *BettyB*, and shoes are again the Verve Pumps by Maitreya.

So kids, here’s the lesson for today – go to Casa del Shai NOW and buy EVERYTHING, else you’re just not cool.
