So, I figured before I do my first post for the blog, I should do a little introductory paragraph explaining what exactly The Lady and the Tramp is. This blog is designed for us – Valena Glushenko and Rachelle Slade – to review, do special features on new stores or particular themes (as i’ve done below) and editorials. What we particularly hope to do is a semi-regular special feature, taking a single item of clothing or an accessory, with myself dressing it up and Rachelle dressing it down. She’s uber cool and i’m a glamazon, we hope it’ll be interesting.
You can actually see some of our snaps in the flickr stream to the left, which features those cute shorts from Elephant Outfitters. Anyroad, we hope this blog will be something the fashionistas of SL will want to return to, and that it will help make you all a little more fabulous (and poor).
Ok, so those of you that know me, 90% of the time i’m wearing black, either completely or just mostly. What can I say – it’s easy and it’s chic. Also, as a glamour whore, I love eveningwear. Naturally, I came to the topic of LBDs. I must own dozens of the things, some are a lot better than others. These are only a few of my newest favourites, but I hope you enjoy. The photos aren’t quite all the same yet, i’m still finding my blog snapping style, and you’ll very easily notice where i blurred over dodgy pics (which I only noticed were borked after cutting and pasting the images together, of course.)

Above is the “Grace” outfit from Cachet, which I first saw on my fabulous friend Tabitha Vacano, who deserves almost full credit for me buying it. I know I blogged Cachet before on the Diamonde. blog, but i just love the stuff. While I can only buy it once in a while (i’m poor and the outfits are a bit pricey, as they include accessories and options) I find Thora’ and Minnu’s style fantastic. Sleek and chic, i’ve been wearing this dress almost non-stop for the last 5 days, and for me, that’s dedication. Also featured is one of the Mellie3 makeups from Annyka Bekker’s “Blowpop” – I was admiring some demos a week or so ago, and when she dropped her newest makeups on me I positively squeed with delight. Also featured is my current favourite hair, Symphony Twist from Armidi.

Next up we have the “Corinne” dress from Artilleri. In Rach’s words: “how the hell is it so 80s yet it looks so good?”. Both of us loved the style and the quality we’ve now come to expect from the super talented Antonia Marat – it was tempting to show you everything i’d bought during my last trip there, but we’d be here all day. The dress itself comes with leggings and fishnets, however i opted for a pair of fishnets from Celestial Studios’ “Week of Love” prezzies, which I think are no longer available (oops). I tend to opt for the more demure, vampy or classy options when it comes to dressing in SL, so this was really fun to sport around in. Paired with one of Toast Bard’s new-ish Fashionably Dead skins, and the Rita hair, also from Artilleri. Necklace from Paper Couture.

Lastly, I wanted something a little more obscure, and when I happened upon this number from Baiastice, I knew it was very me. Something structurally and texturally (made up that word i think) different comes along in SL, it catches my eye, so as soon as i’d laid my eyes upon the spiky tufts and the puffy skirt, I was in love. Comes with gloves and cute little neck ruff thingy, which has a little bow on it which is hard to see in the picture. Paired with a Gigi Couture Another Skin mod (more tanned than i usually wear) and hair from Vintage McMillan. Tights by Paper Couture (freebie) and Verve Pumps in black from Maitreya.
Please leave comments and give me feedback on the post, what you like and what you don’t like (but be nice!), etc. so I can gauge how to structure my posts from now on. Due to problems with the fixed width thing wordpress has, please see the flickr snaps for larger/better quality shots.
Lots of love, Valena x
